Ceasefire in Ukraine's Kherson region ends after Russia refuses extension

The longest truce of the war in Ukraine, localised in the region of Kherson, ended on Sunday after Russia refused to extend the ceasefire. The temporary pause in fighting, which began on Tuesday, enabled a humanitarian mission to the Russian-occupied town of Olechky.

烏克蘭官員稱，由美國第一夫人斡旋、僅限赫爾松東部地區的停火在持續數日後於周日結束，因為俄方拒絕延長。停火期間人道救援與居民撤離得以進行，但烏方軍官擔憂俄軍在平靜期集結兵力，戰鬥重啓後局勢可能更糟。
